Clean Naturally: Throwing Out Cleaning Supplies

The best thing I ever did with my home was to learn how to clean naturally. My wallet appreciates it too! I am a big-time sanitizer between my babies and pets. I’ve learned that what is actually in a lot of cleaners can do more harm than good.

I couldn’t begin to tell you how much money I have spent on cleaning supplies. From the bathrooms to the kitchen and constantly cleaning nose and paw prints off windows, I don’t even want to see the amount of money spent over the years or precious time wasted.

I probably should’ve bought stock in Windex and paper towels.

Within the past year all that has changed and I have thrown out all of my cleaning products. Okay, not really- I gave them all to my MIL who passed them off to a co-worker, who probably passed them off to someone else as well.

Why in the world would I throw out my cleaning products?! Well I’m tired of cleaning. Haha- aren’t we all.

The problems with cleaning supplies:

All the harsh chemicals

Only 200 chemicals have been tested by the EPA out of the 85,000 chemicals in existence today. They also contain toxic chemicals that get into our system by getting on our hands or being breathed in.

Not safe for children and pets

Chlorine is a large component in bleach, which can irritate and cause damage to parts of the respiratory tract. This damage from chlorine may cause swelling and can lead to infection.

Plastic, plastic, and more plastic.

Our planet already has enough litter. One thing we do when we buy cleaning products is spray more if it didn’t work how we wanted to the first time. Thus using more and going through spray bottles faster.

Tired of spending so much time cleaning

It’s time-consuming to clean. You have to make sure you’re using the right spray on the right surface, mopping- ugh, moping takes forever, and and if you’re like me you get distracted every time you turn around.

Here’s what I’m doing instead-

I’m cleaning with water. Yep, you heard correctly. I’m using the Norwegian Experience with microfiber and water.

Norwex has ZERO chemicals so it’s perfect for those with allergies or chemical sensitivities. You’re only using water and cloth so it’s safe for our babies and pets, plus no plastic waste.

I’ve been using Norwex for over a year now and I’m in love. It’s in my kitchen, bathroom, and everywhere else you look.

The microfiber is thicker than any microfiber rag I’ve come across and with the Baclock technology build in to the cloth, I can hang them up to dry repeated and it doesn’t get that mildew smell. It’s a win, win!

The antibacterial micro silver in the wet microfiber cloth goes to work using it’s self purification properties against mold, fungi, and bacterial odor within 24 hours. The thickness of the cloth captures everything and gets rinsed out in the sink.

These products keep you from breathing, touching or ingesting harmful chemicals and cut your cleaning time in half!

The average household spends upwards of $500+ a year on chemical cleaning products and supplies. Let me provide you with a safe, natural, alternative with up to a 90% savings!

Norwex microfiber has a 2 year guarantee and withstands 200+ washes. Even if you only buy the cloths to clean your windows and stainless appliances, you no longer have to buy Windex, paper towels, or stainless steel cleaner. Think of the money you’ll save within 2 years when you don’t have to buy just those 3 things!

My Favorite Items:

Enviro Cloth – It cleans everything, you never have to put it down!

Window Cloth– Spray a little water or wipe with the EnviroCloth first and waa-laa, instant shine! You can also use it to polish.

Dusting Mitt – Slides on like a glove and clings to dust, so much easier than pledge and a shirt rag.

Cleaning Paste -My magical go-to. I’ve used it to take off hair dye from walls, permanent marker from counter tops, and toddler art from laminate floor. I haven’t found something this stuff doesn’t clean up.
